Project Manager for Roadway/Transportation

Cole is hiring a Project Manager with local Roadway/Transportation knowledge and design experience.  Additionally, this position will be trained in specialized skills pertaining to the ADA requirements for the public rights of way.  This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a forwarding thinking company, with unique nationally acclaimed public rights of way accessibility services, offering cutting-edge tools, technology, and training that will further enhance roadway and transportation design experience. 

This position will be based in our St. Charles office, directly reporting to a Vice President of Engineering.   The successful candidate will be responsible for managing schedules, meeting project objectives, and leading team members in the performance of a wide variety of professional engineering services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs work involving the production of design plans freeways, local roads, intersections, signals, storm sewer design, utility relocations or other roadway or transportation-related design elements.
  • Direct the ADA team in the data collection, quality control, processing of data, data reporting, transition plan preparation, and training as required for projects.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, scope and fee proposals.
  • Evaluate plans and resolve design conflicts with other engineers involved with the project.
  • Monitor project status and perform quality reviews or project checks prior to submittal to client, agencies or municipalities.
  • Regularly communicate with clients regarding the status of projects, ensure clients are satisfied or resolve any outstanding issues regarding a project.
  • Meet budgetary objectives; make the necessary adjustments to projects based on financial analysis.
  • Perform business development activities including building and maintaining client relationships, seeking out new business, bidding and RFP/RFQ opportunities

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 years of civil design experience focusing on transportation and roadway design- signal design experience is preferred but not required.
  • Interpreting accessibility in the public rights of way experience is preferred but not required; training is available.
  • Experience managing projects and working directly with clients and prospects.
  • Excellent client-facing oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and direct project team.

Educational/License Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered Engineer in the state of the respective location.
