Crown Square

St. Louis, Missouri

Cole was responsible for the civil engineering and landscape architectural efforts per the site, street and streetscape design, for this 76,000 square foot project which received STP funding. The end result was a mixed-use urban redevelopment project along two blocks in the north side of downtown St. Louis. The project consisted of removing a pedestrian plaza constructed in the late 1970's and reopening 14th Street to a through street. Over 90% of the existing buildings were renovated and a sidewalk was constructed to provide for commercial space and landscape/hardscape areas. 14th Street was ultimately transformed with new pedestrian and bicycle paving, a multi-modal plaza at one intersection, bicycle storage, lighting, street furniture and landscape.
